Belarus to present IT projects at investment forum in Latvia

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – The Belarus-Latvia investment forum will be held in Riga within the framework of the 9th national exhibition “BelarusEXPO 2012” that will take place in Latvia on 6-9 December, BelTA learnt from chief of the department for exhibitions and regional cooperation of the Trade Ministry Pavel Zhukovsky.

Belarus will present promising projects in science, machinery, information technologies, transport and logistics infrastructure and other fields.

Pavel Zhukovsky said that this year the exposition will feature more than 250 Belarusian companies and organizations. The total exhibition floor will exceed 2,500 square meters.

“As usual, big expositions at “BelarusEXPO” will be arranged by the Industry Ministry, Agriculture and Food Ministry, Education Ministry, Transport and Communications Ministry, Belneftekhim Concern, Belgospishcheprom Concern, Bellegprom Concern and Bellesbumprom Concern, the State Committee for Science and Technology and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus,” Pavel Zhukovsky said.

The exhibition will enable Belarus to present its export opportunities, showcase products of the country’s leading companies, and promote domestic goods and services on the Latvian market. Business meetings and talks will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition in a bid to forge new ties with Latvia economic operators and sign agreements and contracts to supply Belarusian products, Pavel Zhukovsky said. The participation in this forum will give Belarus an opportunity to promote its R&D solutions, expand academic cooperation and strengthen cultural ties between Belarus and Latvia, inform the Latvia public about the Belarusian culture and traditions.

National exhibitions of Belarus have made a considerable contribution to the development of trade, economic, cultural and sci-tech links between Latvia and Belarus, helped boost the bilateral trade. Latvia is among Belarus’ leading European trading partners: the bilateral trade exceeded $3 billion in January-September 2012, Pavel Zhukovsky said.

The exhibition is organized by the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Education Ministry, Transport and Communications Ministry, Trade Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Energy Ministry, Architecture and Construction Ministry, Healthcare Ministry, Communications and Information Technologies Ministry, Sport and Tourism Ministry, the State Committee for Science and Technology, Belneftekhim Concern, Belgospishcheprom Concern, Bellegprom Concern, Bellesbumprom Concern, Belcoopsoyuz, oblast executive committees, Minsk City Hall, ZAO Technics and Communications.
