Belarus-EU dialogue is possible only through bilateral contacts, Mazai says

MINSK, 29 February (BelTA) – It is only through bilateral contacts and in a constructive manner that a dialogue between Belarus and the EU is possible, Nina Mazai, the chairperson of the permanent commission for international affairs and national security of the Council of the Republic, told media on 29 February

“Both sides have positions. But it is only through bilateral contacts, through a bilateral dialogue when everyone can express their views that we can achieve results,” Nina Mazai said.

In particular, she noted that some of the activities organized by head of the OSCE PA ad hoc group on Belarus Uta Zapf are outside the scope of the OSCE mandate. “What is the point of such discussion? I really cannot tell,” Nina Mazai said.

Speaking about Belarus’ participation in the OSCE PA Winter Meeting, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Viktor Guminsky noted: “The Belarusian delegation took a very active part in the debates. We participated in almost all the meetings of the committees including the Permanent Committee.”

According to Viktor Guminsky, the Belarusian delegation was able to communicate the stance of the Belarusian parliament on the issues considered at the OSCE PA last meeting.
