Belarus to attend OSCE PA Winter Meeting in Vienna

MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) - A parliamentary delegation of Belarus headed by Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Viktor Guminsky will take part in the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to be held in Vienna from 23 to 24 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The delegation will also include Nina Mazai, chairperson of the permanent commission for international affairs and national security of the Council of the Republic.

The press service noted that the Belarusian MPs will participate in meetings of the PA OSCE Standing Committee and three general committees: on political and military affairs; economic affairs, science, technology and environment; on democracy, human rights and humanitarian questions. The members of the delegation will make reports on the issues of the agenda.

The OSCE PA Winter Meeting will consider the status of implementation of the Declaration adopted in July 2011 in Belgrade. Another issue is the agenda of the regular annual session of the OSCE PA in Monaco. The meeting will include a special debate on The Future of Conventional Arms Control in the OSCE Area and The current economic and financial crisis in Europe. In addition, attention will be paid to the issues of combating terrorism and crime, and other issues of current importance.
