IMF mission starts its work in Belarus

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Review Mission will work in Minsk from 22 February till 6 March, BelTA learnt from the IMF Office in Belarus.

Traditional annual mission will work in accordance with the fourth article of the IMF charter. “The mission will review the economic policy of Belarus for the preceding year and changes in the economic situation in the country. We will also discuss the economic policy for the current year with the authorities,” the IMF Office said.

The mission will be headed by Chris Jarvis.

The IMF organizes such consultations for all member-states. Chris Jarvis is set to meet with officials of the Finance Ministry of Belarus to discuss the financial performance of the country in 2011 and fiscal policy priorities for 2012. The Finance Ministry of Belarus does not rule out discussing financial cooperation with the IMF during the consultations.
