Belarus starts 2012 without macroeconomic imbalances, PM says
MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) - Belarus started 2012 without macroeconomic imbalances, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a session of the Council of Ministers.
“In fact we have solved the problem of national security. Fiscal system is deficit-free. The influx of foreign currency earnings in the country exceeds their outflow; the price growth has slowed down; currency and deposit markets are stable,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. We need to consolidate these trends and make them irreversible. Everything has been done for this by the head of state, the Government and the National Bank, said Mikhail Myasnikovich
The Prime Minister noted that “the prices for energy resources are favorable for Belarus this year, which allows the economy to operate at full force, without any restrictions.” The gold and foreign currency reserves are the largest in the history of Belarus. The budget for 2012 is deficit-free. “Growth projections for this year and 2013 are based on the principles of strict restriction of money printing and inflation. Thus we have made a strategic decision for the national economy,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said. According to him, government agencies and enterprises need to concentrate all the efforts on the main areas. The main one is the growth of incomes of the population. This is the major priority in 2012. “We must meet this target by establishing the qualitative basis by means of new jobs and modernization of existing working places, and through productivity growth,” the head of government noted.
