Rumas: Inflation in Belarus will be under 2% in January 2012

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Vice Premier of Belarus Sergei Rumas told reporters on 2 February that inflation in Belarus will be under 2% in January 2012, BelTA has learnt.

“I believe that in January 2012 inflation will not go beyond 2%. This inflation rate is, of course, high. We expected it to be lower. However, if we look at prices, we will see that the major contributors to the price rise were alcoholic beverages and tobacco products. If not them, the inflation rate would be acceptable and lower than before,” the Vice Premier said.
