Belarus, Amur Oblast okay cooperation action plan for 2012-2013

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Amur Oblast, the Russian Federation, outlined events to develop cooperation in 2012-2013, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The sides approved an action plan to develop trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation. The document was signed by Agriculture and Food Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusyi and acting Agriculture Minister of Amur Oblast Sergei Vologdin.

Under the document, the parties will study possible purchase of road construction, utilities and agricultural equipment for the needs of Amur Oblast, joint production of equipment. There are plans to set up a center for sale and maintenance of the Belarusian equipment in the Russian region.

The sides intend to cooperate in sharing selection material for high-yield and high-protein plants such as rape, sorghum, potato and vegetables, exchanging practices in construction of cattle breeding farms.

Belarusian technological equipment might be applied at the cattle breeding farms in Amur Oblast. Belarus might also partake in the construction of joint companies to produce and process livestock products.

According to the plan, the sides will examine the projects to set up joint production (processing) of soybean and its supply to Belarus, to deliver another protein raw material for the fodder industry from Amur Oblast to Belarus. Belarusian enterprises will explore the possibility of exporting meat and dairy products, setting up commodity distribution network in Amur Oblast.

The parties also intend to boost direct deliveries of Belarusian textile, food, furniture and other consumer goods to Amur Oblast.

During the talks in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Belarusian and Russian delegations discussed cooperation in part of implementation of the plan concerning interaction in agriculture. The sides are also set to develop cooperation in culture, education, and healthcare. The action plan provides for regular business meetings and roundtables with the business community, the exchange of delegations, and intensification of exhibition and fair activities.
