Lukashenko calls press conference for Chinese media

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ relations with China has been advancing most rapidly lately, the press service of the Belarusian head of state quoted President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as telling Chinese mass media in an interview held on 17 January to mark the 20th anniversary of Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations.

Alexander Lukashenko was interviewed by representatives of the news agency Xinhua, China Central Television (CCTV), the newspaper People’s Daily, and China Radio International.

The interview touched upon a large number of topics regarding the bilateral relations including political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ones. The Chinese media were interested in the Belarusian social and economic development model, forecasts regarding the global situation in 2012, prospects of Belarus-China cooperation in view of the Single Economic Space.

“We have no topics we want to avoid starting with the sales of potash fertilizers in China and ending with the creation of a space satellite for China. The range is huge. We know how and what should be done in all the avenues of cooperation,” said the Belarusian head of state.
