Government looking for ways to improve stock market regulation

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – Belarus Government is looking for the ways to optimize the securities market. The relevant issue was discussed at the meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on 10 January, BelTA learnt from the press service of the government.

“The meeting participants considered improvements into the regulation of the securities market and discussed the list of legal persons providing the operation of strategically important economic sectors,” the press service informed. In particular, the Council of Ministers considered suggestions to protect the interests of investors in the purchase of Belarusian securities, toughen responsibility for the improper use of resources generated from the issuance of bonds. Thus, the state is set to tighten control in the sector.

“All transactions with state shares should be under control,” the press service said.

The meeting also highlighted the proposals to develop a comprehensive legislative instrument to use insider information, define criteria for forming a list of legal persons providing the operation of strategically important economic sectors.
