Number of self-employed businessmen in Belarus up 9.8% in 2011

MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) - In 2011, the number of registered self-employed businessmen increased by 9.8% from the same period last year to a total of 42,037, BelTA learnt from the Justice Ministry.

Last year there were 56,499 business entities in Belarus, of them 14,462 were legal persons and 42,037 were self-employed businessmen. The largest number of business entities was registered in Minsk (16,077) and Minsk Oblast (8,496), the ministry said.

In addition, 637 organizations with foreign investments were registered in the country in 2011.

As of 4 January 2012 the single state register contained the data on 278,255 legal persons and 761,875 self-employed individuals, of them 242,946 are active.
