No duties on petrol imports from Customs Union in Belarus

MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – Belarus has not imposed any duties on the import of petrol, diesel and domestic fuel from the Customs Union, BelTA learnt from the Taxes and Duties Ministry of Belarus.

The ministry denied the information appeared in the Internet that Belarus imposed customs duties on the import of petrol, diesel and domestic fuel from the Customs Union on 1 January 2012. “The information is false. There are no duties in mutual trade within the single customs territory of the Customs Union,” the ministry stressed.

According to the ministry, in Belarus juridical entities and self-employed entrepreneurs that import fuel (petrol, diesel and household fuel) to the country on their transport vehicles are obliged to pay to the national budget. The decision is envisaged in Decree No 9 “On additional measures to combat illegal trade of fuel in the Republic of Belarus” signed in 2005.

The Government tasked the Taxes and Duties Ministry to coordinate together with the Finance and Economy Ministries, and Belneftekhim Concern the amount and the order of payment to the national budget. On 16 December 2011 the Taxes and Duties Ministry adopted resolution No 57 “On the size and the order of payment to the national budget by juridical entities and self-employed entrepreneurs who import fuel to the Republic of Belarus”. This resolution took effect on 1 January 2012.
