Belarus-Ukraine trade 43% up in January-November 2011

KYIV, 3 January (BelTA) – In January-November 2011 Belarus-Ukraine trade went up 42.6% on the year to $5.64 billion, representatives of the trade and economy department of the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine told BelTA.

Belarus exported $3.78 billion worth of commodities to Ukraine (64% up) and imported $1.86 billion worth of commodities (12.8% up). It is the first time Belarus’ trade surplus has exceeded import and has reached $1.92 billion.

The trade turnover between Belarus and Ukraine in 2011 is expected to reach a record high of $6 billion. The previous record of about $5 billion was reached in 2008.

In 2010 Belarusian-Ukrainian trade turnover was close to $4.5 billion, or 148.9% as against the same period of last year, with Belarus’ trade surplus at $700 million.
