Belarus’ Embassy in Paris marks 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations

PARIS, 25 January (BelTA) – Belarusian-French cooperation was discussed in a meeting of the Belarusian diplomats with representatives of the Foreign Ministry of France at the Embassy of Belarus in Paris. The event marked the 20th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and France, BelTA learnt from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of France Alexander Pavlovsky.

Attending the event was Eric Fournier, Director of the Continental Europe Department at the French Foreign Ministry. The meeting was held in the format of a roundtable to discuss the issues of bilateral importance.

The Belarusian Ambassador made a brief insight into the history of establishment and development of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, outlined milestones in the bilateral cooperation.

Then the parties exchanged views on certain issues of bilateral economic cooperation. In particular, the French side showed a particular interest in light and timber industries.

In addition, the parties considered the areas for further development of the legal framework of the Belarusian-French cooperation, and discussed cooperation in culture, science, the humanitarian area.

Alexander Pavlovsky noted the importance of the further development of bilateral relations between the two countries and identified key priorities for the near future, including thematic consultations.
