Two Belarus’ universities move up Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – The Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President of Belarus has moved up 1,069 positions and the Belarusian State University (BSU) by 248 positions in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, BelTA has learnt.

According to the press service of the Belarusian State University, the BSU now holds the 595th position in the global ranking and is fourth in the CIS following only the Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University and Tomsk State University. The press service of the Academy informed that the Academy holds the 8,260th position.

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is revised twice a year, in January and July. The latest revised version lists 20,745 universities out of about 30,000 existing universities.

The top three universities include Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University.

The ranking system takes into account the volume of the Web contents and the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external links.

The ranking is produced by the Spanish research laboratory Laboratorio de Internet.
