Zelva to host famous Annenski Kirmash fair on 25 August

GRODNO, 25 July (BelTA) – Annenski Kirmash, one of the most famous European fairs of the 18th century, will be held in Zelva, Grodno Oblast, on 25 August, BelTA learnt from the ideology department of the Zelva District Executive Committee.

This will be the fourth Annenski Kirmash fair held in Zelva. The previous fair was organized by the municipal administration under the auspices of the EU/UNDP project, Sustainable Development at the Regional Level. Attending the festival were about 6,000 people.

This year the local authorities plan to expand the program of the fair. Besides traditional trading, cultural and entertainment events, the fair will feature a presentation of social and investment projects. The program also includes conferences to discuss issues facing small and medium-size business. A fair of rural estate facilities will be held during the forum. Taking part in it will be owners of rural tourism facilities of the region, the Zelva District Executive Committee informed.

The local authorities invite investors and businessmen to take part in the fair.

The Annenski Kirmash fair named after Saint Anna was one of the biggest and famous European fairs in the 18th century. In the past, over five thousand merchants visited the Zelva fair that lasted for a month. They brought horses, tobacco, spices, clothes, footwear and artware from various countries, including Greece, Turkey and Persia.
