Belarus’ satellite to be launched from Baikonur 22 July

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) - Construction of the front section for the forthcoming space launch under the Soyuz/Canopus-B/BKA program has been finished at the Baikonur cosmodrome, reads the website of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), BelTA has learnt.

“The launch of the space rocket Soyuz-FG equipped with the upper-stage rocket Fregat and a cluster of five space vehicles is scheduled for 22 July,” Roscosmos said.

The Belarusian satellite will fully cover the country’s territory. It will be lighter and more maneuverable than the previous one. Weighing about 400kg, it will boast a resolution of about 2 meters. With the satellite in orbit, Belarus will be able to deploy an independent system for remote sensing of the Earth without having to buy space data collection and processing services from other countries.
