Pinskdrev launches furniture supplies to Libya

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Pinskdrev Holding Company has launched the supplies of furniture to Libya, the company told BelTA.

The first batch comprised 16 containers of upholstered and cabinet furniture worth $260,000. The Belarusian company is looking into opportunities to expand cooperation with Libya.

In January-May the company exported $9.9 million worth of goods to the non-CIS countries (down 7.9% over the same months last year). The decrease in supplies was attributed to contraction of exports of woodwork products (plywood, matches, timber) which account for 89.5% of the exports to those countries. At the same time over the first five months the supplies of furniture to the non-CIS grew 10.4%. Furniture exports to Belgium increased by 12%. On the whole, the holding company provides more than 36% of the furniture exports of Bellesbumprom Concern.

In January-May 2012 the company’s exports reached $38.9 million (109.6% to the same period a year ago). Supplies to the CIS grew 17.3%. The company’s total foreign trade transactions made up $63.4 million.

Pinskdrev’s large importers are Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, Poland, and Hungary. The company sells into more than 30 countries including 27 non-CIS states. Over the first five months the supplies of Pinskdrev furniture soared 3.5 times to Latvia to $580,000, and doubled to Romania and Slovakia. The Belarusian company has launched to supplies of woodwork products to Croatia and Slovenia.

Founded in 1880, the holding company includes 44 companies and auxiliary services. Pinskdrev produces all types of household and office furniture, plywood, ply-curve elements, matches, timber. The company makes part of Bellesbumprom Concern.
