Belarus streamlines visa procedures

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Getting a Belarusian visa will be easier. The Council of Ministers has adopted a new revision of visa regulations that provide for simplifying the visa issuance process, Andrei Savinykh, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, told media on 7 June.

In line with the new visa regulations foreign citizens and stateless persons, who have a valid residence permit in Belarus, will no longer have to apply for visas. The number of people, who can visit burial sites, has been expanded. Grounds for applying for Belarusian visas for medical treatment have been stipulated. Several visa application forms have been unified.

As from 1 September 2012 only citizens of foreign states without a diplomatic mission or a consular institution of Belarus will be able to get a Belarusian visa at the national airport.

Citizens of the states where Belarusian diplomatic missions are available, will be able to get a visa at the airport only if they are part of an official delegation invited by a Belarusian government agency or if their visit is necessitated by a serious illness or demise of an immediate relative.
