German Hamburg hosts Belarusian Economy Day

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – The Chamber of Commerce of Hamburg, Germany hosted a Belarusian Economy Day on 6 June. It was an event meant to raise the awareness of the region’s business circles about prospects of and opportunities for cooperation with Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

About 30 companies took part in the Belarusian Economy Day. They represented trade, banking, consulting, transportation and logistics, and the manufacturing sector of the German economy and were interested in promoting cooperation with Belarus.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Germany Andrei Giro delivered a report.

The German audience was made familiar with tendencies of the Belarusian economy development, advantages of Belarus from the point of view of doing business and making investments, the liberalization process and peculiarities of the ongoing privatization program. The Ambassador of Belarus held several meetings with German businessmen.

Besides, at the Belarusian Economy Day Antonina Yezhova, head of the administration of the free economic zone Gomel-Raton, made a report to highlight peculiarities of the operation of free economic zones in Belarus and the advantages that their resident businesses enjoy. Concrete investment projects were suggested for the German audience.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Belarus in Germany, the Chamber of Commerce of Hamburg, the Association for Cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe countries, and Honorary Consul of Belarus in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein Rene M. Schroder.
