Presidents of Belarus, Ecuador to map out joint projects

QUITO, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko who is currently in Ecuador on an official visit is set to meet with President of Ecuador Rafael Correa Delgado today, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

The two leaders plan to hold one-on-one talks and continue their negotiations in the presence of the members of the delegations. The two sides are expected to sign a number of international documents.

Today Belarus-Ecuador trade is predominantly conducted via third countries, and its volume is still rather small. With this, over the last five years the bilateral trade has increased more than two times to $47 million in 2011.

The two heads of state are expected to outline joint projects to give a new turn to bilateral cooperation. The economic potential of the two countries might help build up mutual beneficial cooperation in economic, sci-tech, educational and other areas.

Belarus has a significant scientific, technical and industrial potential and is ready to offer Ecuador a wide range of industrial products and services at reasonable prices, first of all, dump trucks, farm machines, road-building equipment, passenger transport and mineral fertilizers, machine tools, tires, chemical fibers, optics, electronics.
