Andreichenko names Belarus-Russia Union CIS most advanced integration project

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – The Union State of Belarus and Russia is the most advanced integration project in the CIS, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko told media after the 42nd meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly on 26 June.

The Speaker added that a lot had been done in this project including even those things which are not planned in the Eurasian economic integration. These are social issues, education, military and technical cooperation. “This new integration institution is evolving on the basis of the Union State of Belarus and Russia,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

Speaking about the future parliament dimension of the Eurasian economic integration and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Vladimir Andreichenko stressed: “We should not oppose these two parliamentary organizations.”

There was reached a decision in Saint Petersburg in May to set up a taskforce to develop a roadmap of the Eurasian Economic Union Parliament.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union, head of the State Duma of Russia Sergei Naryshkin noted that the first meeting of the taskforce is due to take pace in Moscow in July. The taskforce is set to hold meetings in Minsk and Astana as well. According to the Russian official, the Eurasian integration project has great prospects.
