$500 salary on the back of higher labor efficiency in Belarus’ industry in 2012

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Higher labor and production efficiency and establishment of new production facilities will be the only factors to secure a $500 salary in industry in December 2012, First Deputy Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko told the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on 22 June, BelTA has learnt.

The introduction of innovative solutions will contribute to a higher competitiveness of the Belarusian industry. In January-May 2012 innovative products made up 17.6% of all the products sold (the 2012 target is 13.5-14.5%). In January-April the material intensity of industrial products shrank by 1.7%. Although Belarus has not reached the 2012 target of 2-3% yet, it is well-positioned to achieve it. Vladimir Semashko noted that the target to reduce material intensity will be fulfilled.

In January-April, the profitability of sales in industry rose by 4.2 percentage points up to 11.9% with the 2012 target of 10-11%. Overall, half of industrial enterprises have already fulfilled annual targets. In January-April, labor efficiency rose by 10.4%, more than the industrial output (it rose by 7.5%) and real salaries (4.8%).
