Lavrov: Facilitating Belarus and Kazakhstan’s WTO accession among CU priorities

MOSCOW, 21 June (BelTA) – Facilitating Belarus and Kazakhstan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) is one of the important elements of cooperation in the Customs Union (CU) and the Single Economic Space (SES), Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Belarusian and Russian media, BelTA learnt.

“Facilitating Belarus and Kazakhstan’s accession to the WTO is one of the essential elements of our cooperation in the CU and the SES,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.

According to Sergei Lavrov, there are many forms of such cooperation. “First and foremost, there are diplomatic channels by means of which we will send certain signals to the WTO member states that are in negotiations with Belarus and Kazakhstan,” the minster explained.

“We have already delegated a number of issues, which are regulated by the WTO, to the level of the Eurasian Economic Commission. So the cooperation will be the closest here,” Sergei Lavrov said.
