Belarus, Kazakhstan to sign cooperation agreement in agriculture

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Agrarians of Belarus and Kazakhstan plan to sign an agreement on cooperation in agriculture and food, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

The Council of Ministers’ Resolution No.270 of 27 March 2012 approved the proposal of the Agriculture and Food Ministry to sign an agreement between the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus and the Kazakhstani Ministry of Agriculture on cooperation in agriculture and food.

The major goal is to develop a legal framework for cooperation between the two agrarian departments. “The agreement is needed to expand direct economic, production and sci-tech relations between companies and scientific establishments in the agricultural sectors of the two countries,” the ministry noted. The necessary legal framework between the agrarian departments of Belarus and Kazakhstan will help intensify cooperation and implement joint projects.

The agreement will promote business relations between economic agents, development of new subjects of the commodity-distribution network of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The agreement spells out the main cooperation areas: plant cultivation, cattle breeding, food and processing industries, agrarian science. The agreement offers a transfer of technologies and knowledge, training of specialists for the agro-industrial complex, sci-tech and production cooperation.
