Belarus ready to sell Belaruskali for $30bn

MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus confirms its readiness to sell Belaruskali for $30 billion, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a session on privatization issues, BelTA informs.

“We set the price which is over $30 billion. Many international financial institutions agree with this evaluation,” the head of state said.

“Today we say that we are not against privatization of such strategic enterprise as Belaruskali which brings us in fat years up to $3 billion in revenue. We are not against it,” Alexander Lukashenko said. The Belarusian leader stressed that the price had been determined and now it makes up over $30 billion. “Do our people blame us for it? No. Have we sold it? No, we have not. We have put the price which has been welcomed by many international financial institutions,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “I said “no” to those who wanted to buy it for as little as $15 billion,” he added.

“I think we should go this way. Those, who are interested in purchasing our assets, know what we have got. If they do not, they are welcome to come. We have a lot to offer, but they should know it is not cheap,” the President said.
