EurAsEC to be transformed into new integration association

MOSCOW, 19 March (BelTA) – There are plans to transform the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, into a new integration association. Decision on the basic principles of the draft treaty can be adopted at the forthcoming EurAsEC Summit in Moscow on 19 March, BelTA learnt from the Kremlin press service.

It is expected that attending the summit will be also the leaders of the observer states in the Community - Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The forthcoming meeting is of great importance for further advancement of the Eurasian economic integration, the Kremlin says. For more than 10 years of existence the EurAsEC has won the reputation of an effective mechanism of multilateral economic integration. Interaction in this format is one of the priorities of Russia's foreign policy, the press service.

The summit will also discuss the issues relating to the work of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
