Belarusian-Chinese technology park in Changchun grows larger
MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – The developed area of the Belarusian-Chinese technology park in the city of Changchun is gradually getting larger, BelTA learned from Marina Tsives, head of the Belarusian center for scientific and technical cooperation with China provinces of the technology park Polytechnic of the Belarusian National Technical University.
Work has been going on in the Chinese city of Changchun for the last two years to set up a Belarusian-Chinese technology park. A land plot in the city’s high and latest technologies area has been allocated. “About 70,000 square meters of land was employed by the end of 2011 to house offices and premises to make modern science-intensive products,” said Marina Tsives.
The park is supposed to be a home to Belarusian enterprises and Belarusian-Chinese joint ventures that will enjoy preferential treatment for the sake of implementing high-tech projects in photo electronics, laser technology, new materials and power engineering, agriculture, biotech, information sciences.
According to the source, the park is primarily aimed at commercializing innovative products on the Chinese market.
The Belarusian-Chinese technology park was opened in the city of Changchun in October 2010. The project was launched by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The initiative to set up the park was put forward by the State Committee for Science and Technology of Belarus. The project is supposed to expand scientific and technical cooperation between Belarus and China.
