Ruble deposits of Belarusians 20.5% up in 2012

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Since the beginning of the year national currency deposits of Belarusians have increased by 20.5% to reach Br16.69 trillion as of 1 March, Sergei Dubkov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, told media on 14 March.

In money terms the deposits have increased by Br2.83 trillion, with fixed-term deposits at Br11.9 trillion.

This year foreign currency deposits have increased by $468.2 million in US dollar terms, or 11.1%, to make $4.680 billion as of 1 March 2012. Fixed-term deposits are as large as $4,368.9 million.

The figures confirm that partnering relations between clients and banks have been established. The Belarusians trust their banks with rubles, the official is convinced.
