Russia pledges West to abstain from pressure on Customs Union countries

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – The introduction of sanctions against Belarus can negatively affect economic cooperation between economic entities in the Customs Union. It may threaten economic security of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and integration processes in the Eurasian continent, reads the comment made by the Russian Foreign Ministry following the joint statement released by the governments of the three countries on 11 March.

In line with the document the three Customs Union member states would act together if economic pressure or coercion is used by other countries.

“We pledge Western colleagues to refrain from attempts to pressure our partners in the Customs Union. We are in favor of an equal and respectful dialogue to settle any emerging issues,” reads the commentary of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
