NAIP to conclude first deals with strategic investor by 2012 year-end

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – The National Agency for Investment and Privatization (NAIP) plans to strike the first deals with the strategic investor at the end of this year, Director of NAIP Dmitry Klevzhits said in an interview to TV Belarus-1 channel.

“I think that one or two deals with the strategic investor will be delivered in November-December,” said Dmitry Klevzhits. He stressed, however, that the NAIP is not interested in speed but above all in quality.

He said, “We have published information about the Belarusian companies that seek to attract strategic investors in international media such as the Financial Times, The Economist, on the website of the World Bank. We have done an enormous advertising job for these companies.”

The Agency keeps in contact with the World Bank since last year: "in general, they are happy with our work and see that we are heading in the right direction. Now we have a roadmap for the next six months.”

The NAIP launched the selection process for financial advisers. “Over 30 big name advisers applied," Dmitry Klevzhits said. He noted that three advisers will be chosen out of these 30. The Agency has shortlisted 13. “We are planning to make the final choice in the next two months,” Dmitry Klevzhits added.
