CSTO security affected by European missile defense

MOSCOW, 21 May (BelTA) – The creation of a European missile defense system affects the security of most countries in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordiuzha told a press conference in Moscow on 21 May.

Nikolai Bordiuzha said that while holding talks on the European missile defense system Russia takes into account views of the CSTO member states and keeps them informed about the progress. Nikolai Bordiuzha said the deployment of the European missile defense system will destroy the existing parity while raising tensions in relations.

The official reminded that the existing CSTO doctrine provides for Russia taking care of the security of its allies, including by means of the nuclear potential the country has.
