Belarus’ initiative reflected in final document of ministerial meeting of NAM Coordinating Bureau

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - Initiative of the Belarusian delegation was reflected in the final document of the ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) on 7-10 May, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The participants supported the initiative of the Belarusian delegates on the need to send NAM declarations to the major international conferences and forums in order to take account of the interests of the non-aligned countries.

The main purpose of the meeting was to consider the status of implementation of the plan of action adopted at the 15th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (Sharm el-Sheikh, 2009) and preparations for the 16th NAM Summit to be held in Tehran in 2012. The meeting also discussed the most pressing international problems.

The head of the Belarusian delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik met with the heads of a number of delegations, in particular Australia, Venezuela, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, India, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Kuwait, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nigeria, the UAE, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Ecuador, and with the representative of the Organization of the Islamic cooperation. During the meetings the sides discussed issues of bilateral political, trade and economic cooperation, interaction in international organizations.
