Inflation in Belarus at 1.7% in April

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – Inflation in Belarus stood at 1.7% in April, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee.

Thus, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April 2012 made up 0.7% compared with the previous month and 6.8% as from December 2011.

The core CPI inflation, leaving out prices for certain goods and services regulated by the state as well as seasonal products was at 1.2% from March 2012 and 6.1% from the previous December.

In April the price index for industrial output totaled 2.2% from March, for investment goods – 2.9%, for intermediate goods – 2.6%, and for consumer goods – 1.3%.

The price index for food was 1.8% in April as against March 2012 and 6.9% as against December 2011.

The price index for non-foods made up 1.2% in April as against March and 5.3% from December.

Inflation in Belarus is projected at 19-22% in 2012.
