Gazprom to implement gas-engine fuel project in Belarus

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – OAO Gazprom intends to implement a project that envisages using gas-engine fuel in Belarus, OAO Gazprom Chairman of the Board Mr Alexei Miller told media in Minsk on 22 November.

BelTA has learned that at the meeting of Alexei Miller with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko earlier on that day the sides discussed cooperation in using gas-engine fuel. Alexei Miller said: “We have already signed a protocol on joint work in this area with the Belarus government. The President fully approves of it. I think that in the near future we and the Belarus government will work out a joint action program”.

Alexei Miller underlined that synchronized actions were required. Gazprom will provide investments and natural gas while the Belarusian side, namely the central government and municipal authorities will have to ensure consumption. “Certainly, it should be transport that burns gas-engine fuel,” he remarked.

According to Alexei Miller, there is a possibility of cooperation between MAZ and KamAZ in this area. “KamAZ has a very good lineup of vehicles that consume gas-engine fuel. I think we could also consider expanding our manufacturing cooperation in this regard,” added the Gazprom head.
