Belarus, Bangladesh sign cooperation agreements

DHAKA, 12 November (BelTA) - Belarus and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh signed a package of cooperation agreements. The agreements were signed following the talks between Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, BelTA ahs learnt.

In particular, the two countries sealed intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in education; science and technology; on promotion and protection of investments; military and technical cooperation.

The two parties also concluded the agreement on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and service passports, and a memorandum of understanding on quality assurance and safety of exported aquatic biological resources of Bangladesh.

The cities of Minsk and Dhaka also signed an agreement on cooperation.

Agreements were signed between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries, between the Department of Pharmaceutical Industry of Belarus and Incepta Pharmaceuticals, between Promagroleasing and RMM Group.

Businessmen of Bangladesh showed interest in joint projects in agriculture, instrument making, leather industry, shipbuilding and other areas.

According to Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus Anton Kudasov, Bangladesh is of great interest to Belarus. “First of all, it is an independent market and an independent economy. On the other hand, it is a bridge to tap in the neighboring markets,” he said. In his words, one of the main results of the talks was a package of agreements that include not only exports, but also investment and sci-tech partnerships.
