CIS Foreign Ministers Council to sit in Ashgabat 4 December

MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – The CIS Foreign Ministers Council will hold their regular meeting in Ashgabat on 4 December. The participants of the meeting are expected to consider more than 10 documents in the humanitarian area, enhancing security and other areas, BelTA learnt from the CIS Executive Committee.

The most important document in the area of humanitarian cooperation will be a draft decision on the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. There are plans to institute an honorary order and a jubilee medal, “70 Years of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945”, the CIS Executive Committee informed.

Among other documents in the humanitarian field is a draft action plan for 2013-2014 which comprises forums of creative intelligentsia, contests and festivals. Over 30 international conferences, roundtables and seminars are envisaged for the 2013 Year of Ecological Culture and Environment.

The agenda of the meeting will also include issues of cooperation in the protection of environment and enhancing security.

Within its competence the CIS Foreign Ministers Council will consider a report on the activity of the CIS Council of the Heads of State and Public Television and Radio Companies.

The Council will coordinate the date for the next meeting.
