EaP, EU discuss cooperation in agriculture at Brussels meeting

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – A seminar “Assessment of the agriculture and rural development sectors in the Eastern Partnership countries” has been held in Brussels. The seminar was arranged by the European Commission together with the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

Taking part in the event were representatives of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and Belarus’ Office at the EU. The seminar discussed regional cooperation between the Eastern Partnership countries and the European Union concerning rural development and harmonization of standards in agribusiness. The parties reached a preliminary agreement that a permanent task force (panel) on agriculture will start working in early 2013 within the framework of Platform 2 "Economic Integration and Convergence with EU Policies".
