Lending to Belarus government programs still available

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Lending to Belarus government programs has not been discontinued. The statement was made by Chairwoman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) Ms Nadezhda Yermakova on 21 November, BelTA has learned.

“The crediting of government programs has not been discontinued,” said the NBRB head. The banks that work within the framework of government programs put their efforts into restoring their liquidity, she added.

“Belinvestbank has fully recovered its liquidity. It even has excessive liquidity now, which gets sold on the interbank market. Belagroprombank’s liquidity situation is still serious but the shortage is being reduced. The bank is taking measures to return the loans issued earlier, to attract resources and is slowly restoring its liquidity,” said Nadezhda Yermakova. Thus, Belagroprombank also operates on the market, it does not suspend lending to its clients, but has slightly reduced the pace of issuing new loans.

“No bank has suspending lending operations,” stressed the NBRB head. She explained that she meant more than government programs. “Everything is credited in the economy. We don’t ask why someone has failed to give a loan to someone because there are no spare resources. But requirements for issuing loans have been raised. A loan has to be secured. The possibility of getting back the money should be visible. All the lending principles and the effectiveness of loans should be observed. And the banks have raised these requirements,” noted Nadezhda Yermakova.
