OSCE Secretary General asked about double standards

MOSCOW, 24 October (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia and Belarus’ permanent representative in the CSTO on concurrent Igor Petrishenko asked OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier about double standards. The meeting took place at the CSTO Permanent Council session in Moscow on 24 October, BelTA has learnt.

“Did the OSCE manage to implement the approaches to the institutionalization in its activities regarding the exclusion of double approaches in various countries, including regarding the assessment of the elections,” Igor Petrishenko wondered.

Mr Lamberto Zannier noted that the forthcoming OSCE summit in Dublin in December might launch debates on the OSCE reorganization. “The situation with security in Europe has changed, neither to the worse not to the better. It has simply changed. Therefore we need to reflect on the priorities and tools that we apply. Some countries think it is necessary to balance off the situation,” the OSCE Secretary General said.
