Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum opens in Minsk

MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – The 17th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum has opened in Minsk on 9 October. The event will conclude on 12 October, BelTA learned from the company Technics and Communications.

The forum will showcase achievements in science and technology in power engineering, energy conservation, automation, electronics and environmental protection.

Minsk also hosts the 17th international specialized expo Energy. Ecology. Energy Saving. Electro (EnergyExpo), the 8th specialized lighting products expo ExpoLight, the 7th specialized expo Water and Air Technologies. The forum also includes the 3rd international conference “Energy conservation and energy efficiency. Trends. Investments. Incentives. Experience,” a conference “Modern technologies in environmental protection and eco-friendly use of natural resources”, a seminar “Development of heat supply schemes in urban communities and other localities and ways to optimize the process”, a training seminar “Legal framework and incentives for using renewable energy in the Republic of Belarus and the European Union”, and presentations of participants of the exhibition.

The 17th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Congress will be held as part of the forum. Participants of the congress are in for a plenary session and topical science-to-practice seminars and conferences. Top on the agenda will be the prospects of the Belarusian energy industry, modern environmental protection technologies and rational use of natural resources, ways to enhance energy efficiency and use of own energy resources in Belarus, new waste treatment laws. The parties will discuss Belarus-Czechia cooperation in the energy field, the new Energy Efficiency Directive of the European Union, implementation of the Energy Security Concept of Belarus.

The first EnergyExpo was held in 1995. The event attracts attention of Belarus’ and the world’s top manufacturers of equipment, technologies, and materials for power engineering, ecology, energy saving, and electric technologies. In 2011 about 350 companies and organizations from 15 countries took part in the exhibition. Their number included the largest companies of Belarus and foreign states, which are interested in promoting their products on the Belarusian market.

This year over 350 companies, enterprises and organizations are taking part in the forum. The EnergyExpo is divided by industry branches of the Energy Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the State Science and Technology Committee, the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, the State Standardization Committee. Among the participants are world-famous companies, like ABB, Siemens, Caterpillar, Turbomach, Zeppelin, FILTER, ALSTOM and representatives of the Polish Embassy in Belarus.

At the expo the collective booth of the State Science and Technology Committee will showcase products of R&D organizations and educational institutions. The expo will also include a booth of the Energy Effectiveness Department of the State Standardization Committee and a collective booth of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services.
