Belarus in talks with investors over construction of hydroelectric power chain on the Dnieper

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – The Energy Ministry of Belarus is in talks with potential investors over the construction of the hydroelectric power chain on the Dnieper River, Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk said at an event held within the framework of the Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum.

“We are in talks with potential investors over the construction of the Nemnovskaya hydroelectric power station with the capacity of 20MW on the Neman. Negotiations are also underway over the construction of the hydroelectric power chain on the Dnieper River,” Mikhail Mikhadyuk said.

Companies from Russia, Turkey, Czech Republic and China are considered as potential investors for the Nemnovskaya hydroelectric power station.

The project for the construction of the hydroelectric power chain on the Dnieper is of interest for the companies from those same countries. Belarus has also handed over the proposals to Polish and Indian investors. Terms of implementation will depend on the readiness of the investor. “The terms of implementation of these projects are important for the Belarusian side in the first place,” Mikhail Mikhadyuk said.
