Union State MPs to monitor parliamentary elections in Belarus

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State will monitor the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly.

“The delegation of the MPs will be led by Deputy Chair of the Committee for the CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma, Chair of the Commission for Legislation and Regulations of the Parliamentary Assembly Tatiana Moskalkova,” the press service explained. The Union State MPs will be included in the CIS observation mission.

The delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly will visit polling stations in the city of Minsk, as well as in Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev and Minsk Oblasts. The MPs will hold meetings with chiefs of the regional election commissions and representatives of regional legislative and executive authorities.

The press service informed that the Union State MPs have accumulated great experience in working as international observers in the former USSR republics. They took part in the election observation in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Turkmenistan.
