Investigation committees of Belarus, Russia to sign agreement on cooperation

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – The investigation committees of Belarus and Russia have prepared a draft agreement on cooperation which they plan to sign in October, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Investigation Committee of Belarus Valery Vakulchik.

He said that the Investigation Committee cooperates closely with the Investigation Committee and the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation. “At the meeting with Chairman of the Investigation Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin in Moscow on 1 September where I was invited to take part in the opening ceremony of the Nevsky Cadet College, we shared practices and our visions on cooperation prospects. The experience of our Russian colleagues is of great interest to us. Close economic, social and cultural relations between the two states and nations prompt us to expand cooperation,” Valery Vakulchik said.

In his words, the geography of international cooperation of the Investigation Committee is wide enough today. Sixteen countries have addressed the committee for legal assistance. Belarus has submitted the relevant requests to 40 countries including Ukraine, European and Baltic states. “Prospects for cooperation expansion were also discussed at the meeting with the heads of the German criminal police. By the way, Germans keep close track of the activity of out committee praising its performance,” Valery Vakulchik said.
