ASHRA to raise insurance limit for Israeli investment in Belarus to $300m

MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) - The Israel State Export Insurance Corporation ASHRA intends to raise the insurance limit for Israeli investment in Belarus up to $300 million, Tourism Minister of Israel Stas Misezhnikov told reporters.

Credit and investment cooperation between Belarus and Israel has intensified since August 2009 when ASHRAH agreed to insure Israeli investment in Belarus. In June 2011, the insurance limit was raised from $50 million to $160 million. According to Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy, the bar of $300 million is not the limit. He expressed the hope that as Belarusian-Israeli cooperation intensifies the volume of investments and limit insurance will increase as well. This is confirmed by mutual interest in cooperation on the part of Belarus and Israel.

Following the third meeting of the joint Belarusian-Israeli committee on trade and economic cooperation held in Minsk on 4 September, the sides signed a number of documents: the memorandum of understanding between the State Committee for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Israel, the memorandum of cooperation between the Belavtodor Department and the Israeli National Roads Company, the memorandum of understanding between the National Agency for Investment and Privatization and the Investment Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor of Israel.
