Belarus to attend CIS Council of Interior Ministers meeting

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – A delegation of the Interior Ministry of Belarus led by Interior Minister Igor Shunevich is expected to partake in a meeting of the CIS Council of Interior Ministers in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 6-8 September, BelTA learnt from the Interior Ministry’s information and PR department.

The meeting will focus on priority issues of cooperation between the CIS interior ministries and implementation of interstate crime prevention programs.

Participants of the meeting are set to discuss prospects of a joint fight against an illicit traffic in drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, some aspects to combat addiction. The agenda of the meeting also includes efforts to improve the mechanism of cooperation between the CIS law enforcement bodies on the international wanted list.

In addition, participants of the meeting will discuss the creation of the research advisory board at the CIS Council of Interior Ministers. The major goal of the new organization will be methodological support of the interstate interior cooperation.
