USA advised to stop human rights violations

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – Prior to expressing an opinion about other countries the United States of America should eradicate violations of human rights domestically. The statement was made by the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry in response to the USA Department of State’s annual report on human rights. The report criticizes the human rights situation in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian side has stated in the past and emphasizes now that the report by the USA Department of State about the human rights situation in the world is an internal affair of the United States, said the source.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry reminded that Belarus had successfully passed the procedure of universal periodical review within the framework of the UN Human Rights Council.

“We believe that prior to evaluating the human rights situation in 193 countries across the globe the USA should pay attention to violations of human rights in its own country and eradicate them,” said the press service.
