Demidovich: Domestic equipment is used in all upgrade projects in Belarus

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) - Belarusian machines, equipment, technologies are used in all industrial upgrade projects across the country, First Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Ivan Demidovich said at the opening of the Metalworking international exposition.

“All plants and factories are undergoing modernization. All of them use Belarusian machine technologies,” said Ivan Demidovich. Our equipment is also used in major investment projects in the manufacturing industry. For example, BelAZ is building a new plant to manufacture dump trucks with the payload capacity from 90 to 450 tonnes. “Our machine tool factories manufacture equipment and technology for BelAZ,” said Ivan Demifovich. Belarusian Steel Works is implementing a project to set up a small section mill with the capacity 750,000 tonnes of rolled steel per year. Baranovichi Machine Tool Plant and other enterprises supply equipment for the project.

Last year, machine tool enterprises affiliated with the Industry Ministry formed a holding company Belstankoinstrument with MZOR being the management company. “We believe we have chosen the right path. It is vital that in we are united, and deliver turnkey projects,” he said. The holding company also delivers equipment to foreign markets. The Industry Ministry has already created 16 holding companies. One of the largest is Belstankoinstrument, which includes more than ten enterprises.

According to Georgy Samodurov, President of the Association of Russian Machine Tool Builders, the exhibition provides a great opportunity to unite efforts in the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. There is a unique chance to address the key upgrading tasks of the companies. The Minsk expo provides for present-day machine tool industry development trends and technologies, gives an opportunity to get orders from potential customers.

Director General of the Institute of Powder Metallurgy Alexander Ilyushchenko took note of the importance of the implementation of the state sci-tech program “New materials and technologies” aimed at modernization, introduction of new technologies. An estimated Br232 billion worth of products were manufactured under the program in 2012. Products worth more than $6.5 million were exported.

Chairman of the National Entrepreneurship Confederation Vladimir Karyagin stressed that at present over 9,000 small and medium-sized companies are involved in subcontracting with large industrial companies and thus upgrade their production.

Partaking in the Metalworking expo are 300 companies of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, other CIS and non-CIS countries. The expo includes expositions Welding and Cutting, Powder Metallurgy.
