Minsk to host CIS summit in October

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – The CIS heads of state summit will take place in Minsk in October 2013, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei told media after the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council in Tashkent on 5 April.

The summit will be preceded by a meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council. “Belarus is already gearing up for the arrival of high guests. We plan to create the most favorable business conditions in the best traditions of Belarusian hospitality,” the minister said.

Vladimir Makei also said that a draft decision of announcing the year 2014 the Year of Tourism in the CIS was considered at the meeting. “We adopted a concrete plan of cooperation in this area,” he added.

The participants of the meeting also adopted a draft agreement on mutual recognition of documents confirming higher and higher vocational education. “The document has a great applied relevance for further development of the common education space. The move will allow our people to find and receive job in every country which is a signatory to the agreement,” Vladimir Makei believes.

In his words, under Belarus’ chairmanship in the CIS supreme bodies a concept of chairmanship has been developed and approved by the President of Belarus this year. It comprises over 70 events, 20 of which were implemented in Q1 2013. “The Belarusian chairmanship goes under the motto “Integration for the Benefit of Man”. Our cooperation in the CIS, other organizations should serve people,” the Foreign Minister stressed.
