Belarus seeks new markets in Southeast Asia

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – Belarus is looking for new markets in Southeast Asia. It was the main goal of the recent visits to Indonesia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told media on 5 April.

In his words, today the seller should seek his customers himself. “No one is going to come here and ask for the product. The seller, the owner of the product, has to go to the far corners of the planet to offer his product amid today’s toughest competition,” the head of state said.

Speaking about his recent visits to Indonesia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, Alexander Lukashenko noted that the Belarusian products are in demand there. The number of the relevant contracts that were signed during the visits testifies to the fact.

“The main goal of the visits was to open new doors at that far foreign economic and political arc through which we will work with the countries of the region,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The President noted that via Vietnam Belarus works with the markets of Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, other neighboring states. Belarus cooperates with China, seeks ways to secure its foothold in India. As for Indonesia, Australia, Belarus is just at the very beginning of this road. According to the head of state, these countries are ready to buy Belarusian products.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that thanks to the visits new contacts were established, new projects were outlined.

In what concerns Singapore, the President stressed that it is the world’s richest country from the fiscal point of view. “We hope that Singaporean investors will have an interest in Belarus. But we should present ourselves in a decent way,” the President believes.

Speaking about the UAE, Alexander Lukashenko stated that an agreement has been reached that Belarus would offer five or six projects for investing. In his words, the sides are considering the projects.
