Factory built to supply concrete for Belarusian nuclear station

MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The construction of a concrete factory has been finished in the Belarusian town of Ostrovets. The factory will supply concrete to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from Mr Mikhail Filimonov, Director of the Nuclear Power Plant Construction Directorate, on 3 April.

“The factory has been built already, it is virtually ready for operation. Test trials have been completed. The quality of concrete is normal,” said Mikhail Filimonov.

In his words, the factory can make 180 cubic meters of concrete per hour, it will be operated by about 35-40 people. Various kinds of concrete will be available. “The main purpose of the factory is the construction of the nuclear power plant, therefore about 99% of the output will be used to build the nuclear station,” said the official.

The factory has a very powerful lab fitted with the latest equipment to monitor the quality of every batch of concrete to be shipped to the construction site. Each and every batch will be used only after its compliance with the project’s requirements has been confirmed.
